Post by LBussyThe lining is a complete one-piece insert. The bottom, sides and outer
lip
are all one piece.
There is another solid gasket for the lid. There is no way behind it.
Ah that makes sense now! If I had seen one up close I guess that
would have been more apparent.
Thanks for the replies.
I picked up an old Loritone base on e-bay for a few bucks, (old as in
bushing instead of roller/ball bearings on the shafts). No motor, but
a 15 lb barrel and lid.. Picked up a half horse motor, went a little
bigger on the motor pulley to speed it up a bit, then wrapped the
drive shafts with some electrical tape to speed it up even more
(close to 60 rpm). The drum has internal "flats" to help with
lifting the media/composition, but I hot glued a couple sticks
of teflon rod (each rod is 1/2 the length of the drum, hot glued
180 degrees from each other to lift and mix the comp) which made
a fair amount of difference in the amount of time necessary to
make up a batch of whatever.. I can use granular nitrate, un-pulverized
charcoal and garden sulphur and get some pretty hot BP in just about
2 hours... I also have a half drum that I purchased for "small" batches
that also works very well, (without the lift bars) but is quite a bit
slower than the larger drum.. Oh, media is 1/2 copper pipe filled with
lead cut into 1/2 to 1 1/2 inch lengths I only use maybe 2 or 3 lbs of
media while tumbling.... (2 or 3 Kg batches of comp.)
Putt...
